Find Wood County Released Inmates

Wood County released inmates can leave local custody by bond, sentence completion, a court order, or transfer to another authority. A Wood County released inmate search therefore needs more than a missing roster name. To search for Wood County released inmates, first identify whether the last custodian was the county jail, a Texas state prison, or a federal agency. Wood County released inmates may be documented in jail and bond records, court files, custody notifications, supervision records, or a formal release response. Each source answers a different part of the release question.

Wood County Release Meanings

A release from the Wood County Jail / Wood County Sheriff Justice Center means that the jail ended its custody. It does not always mean the person entered the community. A person may post bond, finish a county sentence, receive credit for time served, move to probation, or leave after a case event. Another person may transfer to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, another county, federal custody, or immigration custody. The agency receiving the person then becomes the right source for the next status.

The local roster is mainly a custody tool. Once a book-out posts, a former detainee may no longer appear in the live population. That absence is only a clue. A misspelled name, a portal delay, or a transfer can look the same. Strong confirmation pairs an affirmative jail book-out or release entry with a bond record, signed court disposition, VINE event, supervision status, or agency records response.

Important: A missing Wood County jail name does not prove release. Confirm the book-out and whether custody passed to another agency.

Wood County Release Types

Release wording tells what ended the jail hold and what may follow. Bond releases leave the criminal case open unless the court later resolves it. Probation is court-ordered community supervision. Parole is supervised release from TDCJ before the sentence fully expires. A discharge generally marks the end of the custodial sentence, while a transfer means confinement continues elsewhere.

Cash or surety bond
The person left pretrial custody under bond terms. Check the Sheriff Bond record and criminal case.
Time served
Jail credit satisfied the custodial part ordered by the court. Check the signed judgment and book-out.
Probation
The court placed the person on local community supervision. Check the sentence and Wood County CSCD.
Parole
TDCJ custody changed to supervised release. Check the TDCJ release record and Parole Division.
Transfer or detainer
Another agency took custody. Check the book-out destination and the receiving agency.

A detainer is a request or hold from another authority. It can cause a person to leave Wood County custody without going home. A no-bill means a grand jury did not indict on the reviewed charge. Neither term should be treated as proof that every custody basis ended.

Wood County Release Record Fields

Wood County does not publish one universal release certificate or a public field dictionary. A local record may be a booking sheet, book-out entry, jail event, bond transaction, release authorization, or records-unit response. Ask for the facts needed to identify the event without claiming the county stores every item under a fixed label.

Requested fieldWhat it can show
Full name and booking identifierConnects the result to the correct local booking.
Book-in and book-out date/timeMarks when Wood County custody began and ended.
Release date and timeStates the maintained release event when available.
Release disposition or authorityMay distinguish bond, order, sentence completion, or transfer.
Bond recordShows the bond transaction tied to the release path.
Releasing facility and destinationCan show whether the person entered the community or another custody system.
Booking photographIdentifies the county booking image if maintained and releasable.

A release record documents departure from one custodian. It does not answer every legal or personal question. Pair it with the court judgment when the release basis matters and with the receiving agency when the record shows a transfer.

Note: Requested fields are a drafting inventory, not a promise that Wood County maintains or can release every listed item.

Request Wood County Release Records

The Wood County Sheriff Open Records page explains the written Public Information Act process. The official form allows a requester to describe names, dates, addresses, and a case number, then choose inspection or delivery options. Keep the scope tied to one person, one booking, and a defined period. Broad requests can add cost and delay.

  1. Identify the person with a full name, booking or sheriff number, case number, and arrest date range when known.
  2. Ask for the booking sheet, book-in and book-out times, release disposition or authority, bond record, and public destination data.
  3. Choose inspection, electronic delivery, fax, or mail as the form permits. Electronic copies may reduce copying needs.
  4. Send the request through a current method listed by the Sheriff. Mail goes to P.O. Box 307, Quitman, TX 75783.
  5. Accept lawful redaction and ask for the public portion. If no requested field is maintained, ask the office to state that result.

Wood County says it provides a written itemized estimate when expected charges exceed $40. That threshold is not a flat request fee. If releasable material cannot be produced within ten working days, the public-information officer gives a reasonable production date. When the agency seeks to withhold material and has no prior determination, the statewide process generally calls for an Attorney General ruling request by the tenth business day.

The successful manifest image below comes from the official sheriff records source.

Wood County Bond Release Costs

Wood County publishes concrete bond-out rules on the official jail page. An exact-amount cash bond may be paid with cash, a money order, or a cashier's check. A surety bond is handled through a bonding agency. A bond permits release under case conditions, but it is not a dismissal, acquittal, or finding that the case is over.

The county states that a $15 state fee applies to each of the first two bonds in one jailing, capped at $30. Class C bonds are exempt from those stated fees, and the same state fees apply to surety bonds. These figures explain the local payment mechanics. They do not predict the physical book-out time, which can depend on acceptance, warrants, holds, and jail processing.

Wood County Release Property Rules

The official jail page gives two narrow rules about property and funds. Property is not released on Tuesdays or Sundays during visitation hours. Money in an inmate account cannot be removed unless the person is released, or the funds are used for medical or commissary charges. Neither statement supplies a full released-person pickup procedure.

Call the jail about the specific book-out before planning a pickup. Ask where and when remaining property and funds are returned, and whether identification or a receipt is needed. The facility operates at all hours, but that does not mean every public counter service or release task is available at all hours.

Note: The Tuesday and Sunday limit concerns property during visitation hours, not a published Wood County release schedule.

Wood County Release Record Expunction

Release, dismissal, nondisclosure, and expunction are distinct events. An expunction under Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A may require covered arrest files to be destroyed or returned as the order directs. An order of nondisclosure restricts public disclosure in defined circumstances but does not necessarily destroy every government record. Eligibility depends on the actual case and statute.

Wood County's local instructions add a key routing point. Any of four justices of the peace may have served as magistrate, so the correct magistrate must be included to reach the full arrest file. For a Wood County Sheriff arrest, the agency-list entry expressly includes the jail. The procedure effective September 1, 2025 also states a $25 certified-mail transmission fee for an agency without a supplied email address, while no such transmission fee applies when an email is supplied. That charge belongs to the expunction filing process, not an ordinary release-record request.

Wood County Release Record Law

Texas Government Code Chapter 552 supplies the public-record framework. Section 552.021 states the general access right, and Section 552.221 calls for prompt production within a reasonable time. Exceptions can protect juvenile, victim, personal, security, investigative, sealed, or expunged information. An office must produce existing records, but it need not answer legal questions or create a new report.

State retention schedules strengthen the historical request route. Local Schedule PS4200-06a makes the county jail register permanent and describes a release or transfer date among its minimum data. Supporting booking, transfer, and release documents under PS4200-10 have a minimum of release or transfer plus two years. Property inventories under PS4200-12 use the same minimum. Those periods govern agency files, not how long the web portal displays a name.

Find Wood County Released Inmates

Start with the last known custodian. For a county booking, use the official portal's Jail Records and Jail Bond Records categories, then check the matching criminal case. If there is no affirmative release result, call the jail or send the narrow request described above. Texas VINE and Wood County IVSS assistance can report future custody changes, but a notice is not a certified historical release record.

  1. Confirm whether the person was held by Wood County, TDCJ, BOP, ICE, or another county.
  2. Search the responsible official portal with a name and any lawful identifier, then record the agency and update date.
  3. For Wood County custody, compare Jail Records, Sheriff Bond data, and the criminal case before drawing a conclusion.
  4. For former TDCJ custody, request incarceration history or a release certificate because the public search is current-only.
  5. For federal custody, use BOP. Use ICE only as a current detention locator, not a historical release archive.
  6. When no online result proves release, ask the original custodian for the maintained book-out or discharge record.
Why did the name disappear? Release, transfer, data lag, and a search mismatch can all remove a name from view.

Wood County Release Portal Path

Wood County's access system is unusually useful because one environment covers Sheriff Jailing, Sheriff Bond, and criminal case records. The District Attorney describes a practical path: open Online Services, choose Judicial Records Search, select the criminal case search, enter the defendant name, and open the case number. A booking can show local custody, a bond record can explain the release authority, and the court file can show a later disposition.

The portal publishes no rolling 24-hour or 72-hour release view, released-result field dictionary, refresh schedule, photo promise, or web retention period. Do not turn current inmates or recent arrests into a release list. The successful manifest capture comes from the official Wood County Public Access portal.

The portal is an access point for verification, while a records response remains the fallback for a missing or unclear book-out.

Wood County Release Court Trail

A criminal case can remain searchable after the jail stay ends. The county's Online Services route makes the local court record useful for bond orders, plea or judgment entries, sentence credit, dismissals, and transfer orders. Posted dockets help identify settings, but Wood County warns that they are subject to change. A scheduled hearing does not prove the hearing occurred or that the person was physically released.

Obtain the signed document from the clerk for the court shown on the case. Then compare it with the jail book-out. A court may remove one custody basis while another warrant or hold remains. This is why Wood County's joined jail, bond, and case route is stronger than checking only the current roster.

Wood County Release Supervision Checks

Parole and probation use different offices. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles decides parole and mandatory-supervision matters, while the TDCJ Parole Division supervises people released from state prison. Wood County probation is court-ordered community supervision managed by the local Community Supervision and Corrections Department. The sheriff does not supervise either group.

For parole, a favorable Board vote is not proof that the person has left TDCJ. Release staff still process the certificate, audit the calculation, and set a scheduled date and location. Before a vote, the official review-status number is 844-512-0461. After a vote to release, the Parole Division status line is 512-406-5202. Wood County is assigned to the Tyler District Parole Office, subject to the person's actual release plan.

For probation, use the sentencing case and Wood County CSCD at 903-763-2256. The county's CaseConnect service is only for supervisees authorized and instructed by their officer, not a public name search. Confirm the actual release date, legal release form, responsible office, and public supervision status as four separate facts.

Wood County Release System Comparison

Each locator has a narrow scope. Use the source tied to the last custody event, and treat a result as evidence only for that agency.

Wood County has no identified BOP prison or ICE detention center. A local book-out to either authority is a transfer from the county jail, not proof of community release. Use the BOP Inmate Locator for federal prison custody and the ICE detainee locator only for its current-detention role. The Texas DPS registry is separate. It applies only to people with a legal registration duty and is not a general released-inmate database.

Note: A VINE event can report a custody change, but direct agency records are stronger when documentary proof is needed.

Wood County Release Facility History

The present Wood County jail building was completed in 1988 with 71 beds and seven separation cells, then expanded in 2001. The current county wording refers to 112 beds with male separation cells plus 25 female beds with female separation cells. Because the statement does not make clear whether the female beds fall inside or outside the 112, no combined capacity should be inferred.

A March 18, 2025 Texas Commission on Jail Standards report listed project 591, the Wood County Inmate Housing Addition, as under construction. It did not give a new bed count, a completion date, or a current operational status. The dated report supports the history of the site, but not a claim that the addition is now complete.

Verify Wood County Texas Releases

Search results often confuse Wood County, Texas with Wood County, Ohio. The Ohio P2C roster, sheriff app, booking-photo tools, Bowling Green references, 419 phone numbers, and Ohio sheriff names do not apply in Quitman. Texas sources should point to mywoodcounty.com, the official Tyler portal, a 903 contact number, or a Texas state domain.

This check prevents false release claims based on the wrong county. Confirm the state, agency, facility, and identifier before saving or sharing any result.

Wood County Release Facilities

Two documented correctional facilities belong in the Wood County map. They serve different systems and require different release proof.

Wood County Jail / Wood County Sheriff Justice Center. This county jail holds local detainees. Confirm a community release or transfer through jail, bond, court, VINE/IVSS, or sheriff records.

Clyde M. Johnston Unit (JT). This TDCJ substance-abuse treatment facility is state custody. Confirm a transfer, aftercare placement, supervision, or discharge through TDCJ and the sentencing court or CSCD.
